Equipment

  • 1 Cocktail Shaker
  • 1 Martini Glass

Ingredients
  

  • 1 shot Espresso *approx 2oz
  • 2 oz Vodka could sub tequila
  • 1 oz Coffee Liqueur
  • 1 splash Maple Syrup I keep it low sugar by only using a touch of maple, can sub agave or simple.
  • 3 Coffee Beans Garnish

Instructions
 

  • Brew espresso and let cool for 5-10 minutes
  • Place ice in shaker and add in espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur and maple syrup
  • Shake for one minute until the shaker becomes icy
  • Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with 3 coffee beans
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor. Espresso can be brewed using a variety of methods, such as an espresso machine, or nespresso. 
  • Use a good quality coffee liqueur. Coffee liqueur is essential for adding flavor and depth to your espresso martini. Popular brands include Tia Maria, Kahlúa, and Mr. Black.
  • Use simple syrup instead of sugar. Simple syrup is a mixture of equal parts water and sugar that has been dissolved and heated. It is easier to dissolve in cocktails than sugar, and it also gives the cocktail a smoother texture.
  • Shake the cocktail vigorously. Vigorous shaking is what creates the frothy foam that is characteristic of a good espresso martini. Shake the cocktail for at least 30 seconds, or until the shaker is very cold and the cocktail is frothy.
  • Garnish the cocktail with coffee beans. Coffee beans are a classic garnish for espresso martinis, and they add a touch of sophistication to the drink. Add a touch of cinnamon powder for an extra flare.
